New easily implantable, battery-free weight loss devices developed by the engineers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison could act as a promising weapon to fight against the 'rising pandemic' obesity. According to a 2017 study, more than 700 million people worldwide are obese. In laboratory testing, the devices helped rats shed almost 40 percent of their body weight.
